WIRI Open Mic Night: Behind the Research

Women In Research Ireland is a group for women and other under-represented groups in research and academia in Ireland.We aim to organise events that are accessible and inclusive:We will provide physical access information about the venue on the event registration page. If you have additional access requirements (such as Irish Sign Language interpretation), please let us know at womeninresearchireland@gmail.com in advance of the event you wish to attend and we will try to facilitate these to the best of our ability.All are welcome to our events and we do not tolerate discrimination based on sexuality, ethnic/cultural background, ability, socio-economic status, or any other characteristic. We strive to ensure that our events are always inclusive friendly spaces.If you have any suggestions or feedback, or if you would like to get involved in future events (to help organise, or to volunteer as speaker) just get in touch! Behind the Research</h2><h2>Sharing Talent and Shattering Stereotypes</h2>About this Event<ul><li>When: Thursday 7th November 2019</li><li>Time: 6.30pm - 7.30pm</li><li>Venue: The Mercantile, Hely&#x27;s pub</li></ul>WIRI is a volunteer-run charity that gives a platform to silenced voices. You do not have to be a member of WIRI to sign up for this fun event! This event will showcase researchers in diverse fields who will share unique stories and talent. Help us shatter stereotypes of researchers and attend this event! Please reserve your FREE tickets using this eventbrite to enjoy the entertainment. We have a very diverse line up for the hour and we are no longer accepting talent. Evening performances will include:<ul><li>Music played on ethnic flute</li><li>Elocution on women&#x27;s rights</li><li>Reading of flash-fiction</li><li>Music played on violin</li><li>Poetry describing research</li><li>Original artistic drawings of historical women in science</li></ul>Join us in the audience for a few drinks and support the eclectic talent scheduled for the hour.
